Surfer's Ear

In a couple of hours I'm heading off to hospital to finally have my case of surfer's ear dealt with. Surgery. My doctor will be drilling a hole into my head, clearing my ear canal of exostosis. A quarter of a century's worth of surfing has finally caught up with me. As of today it's six or eight or more weeks out of the water. The longest drought by far in my surfing life. I'm not quite sure how I will begin to cope.

  1. You'll be right Nathan. You'll miss the ocean for while but then I'm sure you'll focus more on some of your creative pursuits. Then when you return to the sea you'll be so grateful for the privilege. Trust the op goes well. Cheers!

  3. Good luck Nathan! I'm sure you'll give us more of your creativity during your drought... and by the time you realize, you'll be back in the water.

  6. Gday mates. Home now after a long day & longer night. Thanks for the kind words. You are all right, time out of the water will allow for space to enjoy some of the other good things in life. I should be grateful, & despite a bloody sore ear, deep down I am. Just spent the morning sitting in the sun with my youngest two Blossom & River wriggling on my lap. Not a bad place to be, really. Life is still good.
