Welcome Arlo

Our dear mates on the other side of the world, Mike & Lisa, had a baby boy today. We here at the Oldfield house are very, very happy. Welcome to the world little Arlo Edwin Zephyr. We can't wait to meet you.

In this crowded world, the surfer can still seek and find the perfect day, the perfect wave, and be alone with the surf and his thoughts. John Severson, THE SURFER, 1960.

Minds In The Water

Minds In The Water is playing tomorrow night at Avoca Beach Picture Theatre. Hope to see you there. If you're not nearby, click here to see if there's a screening near you.
'Minds in the Water' is a award winning documentary following the quest of professional surfer Dave Rastovich and his friends to protect dolphins, whales and the oceans they all share. Through Dave's journey—a five-year adventure spanning the globe from Australia to the Galapagos, Tonga, California, Alaska and Japan—we see one surfer's quest to activate his community to help protect the ocean and its inhabitants.

Looking Back

Sometimes, surfing is about those moments in between, when you're waiting for a wave & gifted with the space to breathe & to look back at the land.

Minds In The Water

This important film is currently touring down the coast. I look forward to catching it at my local theatre at Avoca this week.

See here for more details.

Korduroy's New Website

Korduroy has finally launched its wonderful new website. I'm happy to be involved. Lots to see here, check it out.

"After a successful Kickstarter campaign and months of development, we have transformed from a successful cult blog to a clean, communal website featuring some of surfing and skating's most creative craftsmen and women. Focusing on creativity and self-reliance, join us as we trail blaze solutions for today's adventurous creatives through our articles, interviews and new lineup of eclectic web videos."

A New Board

There's nothing like a new board to make you feel like you're sixteen years old all over again. Thanks Thomas Surfboards & The Critical Slide Society! Stoked & grateful.

DP / The Surfer's Journal

Stoked & grateful to have one of my shots run as a double page spread opener in The Surfer's Journal. It's of Dane Peterson at First Point Noosa riding a 5'10" Mandala. Still haven't been home to see my copy of the mag so I stole this image from Manny's blog.

One of the deepest pleasures of making surf films is the people you meet upon the journey. It was a real joy for me to spend some time surfing & shooting with this big hearted man, Chris Del Moro. I'm stoked to have him play a part in 'The Heart & The Sea.'

El Mar, Mi Alma

If you're lucky enough to be in the shire this week, this exquisite film is having a couple of shows at the Pighouse on the 14th & 16th. Details here.

Not a lot of blogging lately, but lots of driving, shooting & surfing for 'The Heart & The Sea.'
